Hot August Night 5k – August 18, 2012 – Montford Recreation Center – Asheville, NC

A staple of the Asheville running scene, the Hot August Night 5k provides a running tour of the Montford Neighborhood on, well, a hot August night.

It’s an inexpensive race – just $15 for runners 13 years of age and older and just $10 for those 12 and under. The race starts at 7:00 PM. The start and finish are at the Montford Recreation Center – 34 Pearson Drive.  Following is a description of the course that I have from the past – I assume it hasn’t changed:

The start and finish line is in front of the Montford Center at 34 Pearson Drive. Start on Pearson at the parking lot. Go left onto Courtland, cross over Montford, go down Bearden, make a right on Cumberland, take a left on Starnes and then left on Flint, left on Magnolia, right on Cumberland, left on Soco, right on East Waneta, and right on Montford. Take a left on Santee, left on Pearson, and right on Birch. Travel down Birch into Riverside Cemetery. Go straight traveling around the marked loop back to Birch. Take a right on Pearson, and the finish line will be near the Center.

Online registration is available at Active.com.

  1. A Sr. Citizen Discount would be appreciated.

  2. So, it’s either this race, or the ATC Pool Party?

  3. Speak for yourself, Jim.

  4. $15 is a very good deal.

  5. Have the Hot August Night 5k results been posted yet?

  6. Rus – not that I can find. It has been historically tough to get these race results. I got them in 2010 but never saw them last year.

  7. When and where can we see results from this race???
