The All Souls Christ School 5k
This is a great race. A festive environment on the campus of Christ School. The race starts with a swift dash across a soccer field and then winds through a variety of trails — mostly shaded, some wide open grassy fields, and a healthy dose of mud. A total of 56 eager runners completed the race. This is a certified 5k and having run it and measured it with my Garmin over two years – I can attest to it. It is 3.13 (2008) and 3.12 (2009).

Wow! Someone won this in 20+ minutes! How tough was this course, anyway?
It’s a combination of dirt trail with roots, grass and a little paved surface just at the beginning and end. This year it was quite a bit more muddy than last year. Last year Jay Curwen won it and I know he was under 20 minutes but I don’t recall the exact time. Maybe 18/19? I was about 50 seconds slower this year than last. Not sure exactly why since my TW8K times was almost exactly the same as last year. Maybe the mud.
I wish I could have introduced you to my friend Frazier, who apparently finished right beside you.
Another note- not long ago I could outrun Frazier’s son Allen in a 5K. No more! Not even close. Allen finished second overall in this one. That young man has made great strides.
